Karin Frost created the ultimate baby carrier based on her own needs as a mother. Her idea was to create a baby carrier that would preserve the child's spinal development while limiting the pressure on the back and shoulders of the parent wearing it. She perfected her creation with the help and feedback of other parents who shared the same needs for their infants and young children. In 2003, she turned her dream into reality. Karin began sourcing fabrics from companies that, like her, take a socially responsible and environmentally friendly approach. Her first baby carrier, the Original, was made entirely of cotton. This machine-washable model already featured high-density foam in the shoulder straps and waistband, as well as a headrest. The baby carrier was only offered via the website, and word-of-mouth and the loyalty of satisfied customers did the rest. The same product is now sold in specialist boutiques and department stores around the world.

Following the success of the Original baby carrier, there was a growing need for certified organic baby products. After visiting several factories to ensure that they respected fair trade and all aspects of organic material certification, the new factory began production, and the Ergobaby Organic baby carrier was born. This ultra-soft baby carrier offers the same comfort as the Original model, with a high-quality feel and additional features.
