Karin Frost created the ultimate baby carrier based on her own needs as a mom. Her idea was to create a carrier that would preserve the child's spinal development while limiting the pressure exerted on the wearer's back and shoulders. She perfected her creation with the help and feedback of other parents sharing the same needs for their infants and young children. In 2003, she made her dream a reality. Karin began sourcing fabrics from companies that, like her, adopted an approach that prioritized social responsibility and ecology. Her first carrier, the Original model, was made entirely of cotton. This machine-washable model already featured high-density foam in the shoulder straps and waistband, as well as a headrest. The carrier was only offered through the website, and word-of-mouth and the loyalty of satisfied customers did the rest. Now, this same product is offered for sale in specialty shops and department stores all over the world.

Following the success of the Original carrier, a growing need for certified organic baby items developed. After visiting several factories to ensure their compliance with fair trade and all aspects related to organic material certification, the new factory began production and the Ergobaby Organic carrier was born. This ultra-soft carrier offers the same comfort as the Original model with a high-quality feel and additional features.
